Daft Punk Have Split, After 28 Years Together
By : Azlyrics -
In devastating news for the entire music world, Daft Punk – the pioneering French electronic duo – have split after 28 years of being together.
Rumours of their split came after the duo, consisting of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, posted a video on YouTube entitled ‘Epilogue’, where it showed both masked figures going their separate ways before…exploding one another. Then, two robotic hands appeared on the screen, with ‘1993 – 2021’ written underneath.
Daft Punk’s longtime publicist, Kathryn Frazier, confirmed to various media outlets that the duo had split, but gave no reason as of yet.
The news of the split comes eight years after the release of their last album, 2013’s Random Access Memories. The album, to no-one’s surprise, was a global phenomenon that saw them team up with Pharrell for the ubiquitous hit ‘Get Lucky’. The album also took home ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2013 Grammy Awards.
In addition to Random Access Memories, the duo released three other albums – 1997’s Homework, 2001’s Discovery and 2005’s Human After All. Discovery is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary later this week.
